1983    Zimmer Golden Spirit
Limited Edition  for  Sale

This 1983 Zimmer Golden Spirit was built by Zimmer Motorcars Corporation in Pompano Beach, Florida, and is powered by a 5.0L Windsor V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. It is finished in ivory over tan leather and features power-adjustable Recaro front bucket seats, a Nardi steering wheel, air conditioning, and an AM/FM stereo with a cassette player. Further equipment includes a gold-plated bronze flying eagle ornament, driving lights, quad trumpet horns, simulated external exhaust pipes, front disc brakes, and 15″ wire-spoke wheels
.
Beginning in 1978, new Ford Fox-Body Mustangs were sourced by Zimmer to be modified with a custom chassis that was lengthened nearly four feet. The retained A-pillar, roof, and doors are joined by custom fiberglass body panels. This example is finished in ivory and is equipped with an upright polished front grille, a gold-plated bronze flying eagle ornament, driving lights, quad trumpet horns, simulated external exhaust pipes, simulated spare tire carriers, polished bumpers, a vinyl landau roof, and a rear luggage rack. A December 1987 entry on the Carfax report shows an accident with another vehicle resulting in damage to the front of the car. Paint chips are detailed in the photo gallery.

Chrome-finished that have been painted grey due to road corrosion on the chrome with 15″ wire-spoke wheels wear Zimmer-branded center caps and are mounted with 235/75 whitewall tires. The Mustang suspension is retained along with the power steering and front disc brakes.

The cabin features power-adjustable Recaro front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in tan leather along with a color-coordinated dashboard and door panels. Woodgrain trim accents the dashboard as well as the center stack, and amenities include an AM/FM stereo with a cassette player along with air conditioning, a quartz digital clock, power windows, power locks, and Zimmer-branded sill plates. Wear is visible on the upholstery in the photo gallery.

The Nardi wood-rimmed steering wheel frames an 85-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and supplementary gauges for amperage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 27k miles but odometer has rolled over after hitting 99,999. A June 1995 entry on the Carfax report lists a 119k mileage reading ... with this info we can assume the car has 100,000 plus the odometer.

The Ford 5.0L V8 was fitted with a four-barrel carburetor and a DuraSpark electronic ignition from the factory.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. Rust is visible on the underbody.

The Carfax report shows the aforementioned December 1987 accident and lists history in Florida and Minnesota. A gap in the entries is noted from June 1995 to September 2012, and no entries have been made since September 2012.

The car is titled as a 1983 Ford Mustang.
